Guide to NYC Shopping

5th Avenue

Shopping in New York City is a must-do with its mixture of boutiques and designer stores. 5th Avenue is the Rodeo Drive of the East Coast, but much more extensive. World famous for its ultra-exclusive designer stores such as Tiffany’s, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci, 5th Avenue is now home to favorites like Sephora, Banana Republic and the Disney Store.

Canal Street

Located in Lower Manhattan, this NYC shopping area was originally the mecca of New York’s jewelry trade in the early 20th century. Today the area is famous for its street vendors, open storefronts and bargain prices. It is also notorious for its counterfeit products with fake trademarked brand names.

Diamond District

The world-famous Diamond District is located on 47th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues and is the largest shopping district for all sizes and shapes of diamonds and fine jewelry with over 2,600 independent businesses on a single block.

Madison Avenue

The strip of high-end Madison Avenue designer stores runs from 57th to 85th Streets and is called by locals, “The Fashionable Road.” This Manhattan shopping area includes many of the most renowned fashion designers, jewelers and upscale hair salons.

The neighborhood of SoHo runs from Houston in the north to Canal Street in the south and is exquisitely famous for its charming streets and variety of trendy boutiques, vintage shops and upscale designer wear.
